Susan Harbage Page employs a variety of techniques including photography, altered textiles, videos and installation to explore how shared traumatic histories inform and shape current social relations. Drawing from a childhood spent in both the North and the South, her work addresses the cultural performance of gender, race, identity politics and illegal immigration. Harbage Page earned her MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship. She currently lives in North Carolina and teaches Studio Art and Women’s Studies at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She was our Carolinas HealthCare Artist-in-Residence.
