Virginia Hanes Boyd is a visual arts teacher at West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She received her BFA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is currently working towards an MA in Arts Education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  While in residence, Virginia would like to create representations of the various natural voluntary and involuntary human reactions and functions in terms of an individual's physical state and how this relates to one's mental well-being.  She plans to experiment with different types of printmaking techniques such as photo-etching intaglios and monotyping in her exploration of this subject matter.
