///GORDON JAMES : PAINTING
Location: Fort Washington, MD
Gordon holds a BFA with a concentration in Illustration from the School of Visual Art, New York. He worked in commercial illustration for several years and then decided to focus on his oil painting full-time. His artistic genre has its roots in Impressionism, and he cites John Singer Sargent, Nicolai Fechin, and Henry Ossawa Tanner as artistic influences. Gordon feels his style is both academic and expressive, and that his work contains a lyricism not often found in contemporary art. Gordon is specifically committed to connecting with his audience. Of his work, he says, "When people see my art, I want them to say: I know that person. I know that feeling."
