///REBECCA JONES : PAINTING

Rebecca, a Charlotte native, received a BFA from East Carolina University and was later invited to study at the New York Studio School of Art. During her subsequent travels throughout Eastern Europe, she developed an interest in the Middle East, and this focus on Middle Eastern culture continues to prove a stong influence in her work. Rebecca works primarliy in the medium of encaustic, which originated in ancient Greece and Egypt, and is one of the oldest painting techniques. Rebecca strives to create a place of stillness and mystery in her paintings, with the portraits conveying not one message but withholding many.
