
Don lives in Davidson, North Carolina, and for the past thirty-five years has worked as a regional planning consultant evaluating and planning over 120,000 acres in the southeastern United States, Bahamas, and South America. He discovered clay in 1993 at the age of 56 and went on to study at Central Piedmont Community College and Penland School of Crafts in order to pursue his new passion. In 1997, his work was selected as a winning entry at the Monarch National Ceramic Competitiion, one of the premiere ceramic competitions nationwide. He is interested in combining clay with other art forms such as painting, photography and metal working. His work is about presenting ideas which ask the viewer to see things in new and sometimes unexpected ways, exploring those visions and emotions that lurk at the edge of our consciousness.
