Often using photography to capture performance pieces, Rae Goodwin shares how her childhood, faith, community and the South have shaped her personal story. Using ironic humor, repetitive method and suggestive materials, Goodwin challenges her own concepts of identity, family, gender and society and invites viewers to examine their own consciousness through her process. Goodwin received her M.F.A from Winthrop University and was recently the subject of a solo show, relativity, at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. She currently serves as Director of Foundations and Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky.
