Amy Cheng fluidly merges western painterly preoccupations with the eastern sensibilities of her heritage, inviting the viewer to meditate on the collective contrast. Born in Taiwan, and raised in Brazil, Oklahoma and Texas, she captures a style of painting reflecting these various cultures but remains true to her unique perspective. Cheng received her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA from Hunter College in New York. She has extensively exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has received two New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships in Painting.
