Born in High Point, North Carolina Sarah Atkinson grew up in a rural farming community. Surrounded by the beauty of nature and secluded by land, she developed a love for painting at a very young age. Sarah studied fine arts at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she developed a deep interest in figural studies and began to cultivate her contextual style of painting. Sarah's ability to capture a timeless and seductive movement in her paintings is offset against an organic, often abstract backdrop. Amidst a sea of tar and beeswax, the pieces, in their final state, stand as elegant, yet bittersweet works that express an emotion of their own. Sarah Atkinson's works are held in private collections throughout the United States, as well as internationally.
