
Carla Stetson was the Carolinas Healthcare System artist for 2006. Stetson received her BFA from Kansas City Art Institute in 1977, and her MFA fromVermont College in 2006. She has lived and worked in Duluth, Minnesota for the past 18 years. Stetson is best known for her three commissioned public sculptures in Duluth. Stetson works in a variety of media, including photomontage, collage and installation. She teaches figurative sculpture and figure drawing at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, and the University of Wisconsin in Superior. Her work is concerned with what the artist describes as, "discovering or uncovering connection between the human experience and the 'body' of the earth."
