///DAVID EDGAR : SCULPTOR
Location: Charlotte, NC
David received his BA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and his MFA in Sculpture from Michigan's Cranbrook Academy of Art. He is currently an Associate Professor of Art and Director of the Master of Arts in Arts Administration program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His artwork is represented nationally in corporate, institutional and private collections. As a sculptor, David's work has strongly been influenced by the 20th century tradition of found object assembly. He has recently moved from working with fabricated steel to working with recyclable high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics from consumer product containers. He is particularly interested in exploring the intersection of western consumer marketing culture in contrast with the fragility of the environment through uniquely crafted artworks. His sculptures embrace a festive aesthetic that is intellectually accessible to the public.
