Location: Charlotte, NC
Laura received her BA in History from Davidson College. After touring the US, Canada and Europe as a member of Up with People, a performance group that stresses community service as well as entertainment, she returned to Davidson to work in the Community Service Office. During the course of her employment in this position, she organized and led student service groups to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Her experiences with different cultures lead her to examine the similarities that all people share. This influences her art. Following these experiences, she returned to school to participate in the Fine Arts program at Central Piedmont Community College followed by a BA in Painting and Minor in Art History from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Through the use of various media, her art explores methods by which she can take intangible emotions, thoughts, experiences and memories, give them structure and make them tangible.
