Art was born in the Philippines but grew up in Los Angeles. He attended the University of California Santa Barbara and Claremont Graduate School. His work typically subverts everyday objects and well-known images, with a sense of humor, to bring about unexpected commentaries on serious themes, including the body, relationships, and the unreliability of appearances.
