McColl Center for Visual Art is proud to host Charlotte's first official Rube Goldberg Machine Contest on Saturday, November 16. Area high school and college teams are invited to compete with their original chair-reaction inventions that follow the prompt "Zip a Zipper!". Winning teams will be eligible to participate in the National Rube Goldberg Machine Competition in 2014. Keep reading for more information.

COMMUNITY DAY

Join us on Saturday, October 13 for Community Day presented by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina. Participants young and old can participate in various artist-led activities including The Fundred Project with Mel Chin. In addition, there will be yoga on the lawn and additional demonstrations by our various community partners. Keep reading for more information about the day's activities.

ADULT WORKSHOPS

Starting this September, the Center is offering three and four-day workshops for adults that are led by our current or alumni artists. Classes include Hand Building with Clay, Encaustic Painting, and Printmaking. Keep reading for more information.

The Summer Arts Institute offers 1st through 8th graders the chance to work with professional artists in a unique setting this summer. We have even teamed up with some great partners like Discovery Place, North Carolina Dance Theater and the Bechter Museum of Modern Art to create some great offerings you can not find anywhere else.
