MEET 3 OF OUR ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE!
Since mid-January, the Center has enjoyed the creative energy brought on by our new group of Artists-in-Residence. A three-question interview with Matthew Steele, Mary Giehl and Felicia van Bork might offer you a sneak peek of their personalities. Come meet them for yourself on Open Studio Saturday!

The Contemporaries visit the New Gallery of Modern Art on February 29 for an artist talk and reception with artists Del Geist and Patricia Leighton and Gallery Director, Irina Toshkova.

KEEPING IT MODEST

Current resident Matthew Steele is working with students from the UNC Charlotte College of Art and Architecture to explore options for modest dwellings, all while keeping an aesthetic appeal. How modest? Under $700.

THINKING CREATIVELY

Using both the logical and the creative side of the brain, participants enrolled in the Innovation Institute will learn to solve problems and think in new, creative ways. And why is this important? Because the ability to think creatively has been identified as the most important characteristic of a successful leader. Keep reading to hear from our guest blogger, Barbara Spradling, Director of the Innovation Institute.

SCANS TO SCULPTURE

Mary Giehl, Carolina HealthCare Artist-in-Residence, is working with staff participants from Carolinas Medical Center to transform medical scans into textile sculptures.
