Amelie’s French Bakery

Chosen for their reputation of serving a diverse community of patrons, resident artist David Wilson photographed the eclectic community and decor of Amelie’s French Bakery in NoDa.  After a few visits to this Charlotte hot spot, Wilson captured enough content for the creation of a digital collage that will hang in the bakery as a permanent work of art as of August 17, 2011.

“Amelie's was the perfect canvas for a community collage on many levels. The space is constantly buzzing with human interaction and the vibration is always positive. There is a patchwork of diversity in the people who share the space that is remarkable. From the youngest child enjoying a fixation with sugar to the oldest adult indulging in the buzz of caffeine and stimulating conversation, the connection of people, places and spaces is vibrant and joyful. Each room in the bakery is almost like its own little reality where people are able to get lost in themselves amongst the reality of congregation. And, what is even better is that all of this can happen 24 hours a day. Shouldn't that be what life is about anyway?"

We invite you to join us at Amelie’s French Bakery on Wednesday, August 17 from 5:30 to 7 PM to meet resident David Wilson and see his work of art created in the spirit of Charlotte’s Romeare Bearden.

[TIP] Amelie’s offers a delicious assortment of pastries, soups and sandwiches, but we recommend the salted caramel brownie!
