Sometime in elementary school, I decided that I couldn't sing, so I just stopped singing.   And for about 25 years, I didn't sing out loud in front of another living soul.   I even faked singing hymns in church, for which I'm quite sure I've been judged.

But I had a conversation in May with Julie Dean, who teaches voice for Community School of the Arts, and we agreed that it was a shame for me to be completely without song.   One of my primary takeaways from Innovation Institute at McColl Center was a fearless sense of "Why not?  If I have faith that I'm a fundamentally creative person, what's the worst that can happen?"

So off I went into singing lessons, and I've been learning from Julie, thirty minutes a week, all summer.   I don't have a great voice, but I have a voice, which was good to remember.
