Established in 1999, McColl Center for Visual Art is a state-of-the-art facility housed in a renovated 30,000 square foot neo-gothic church and is the largest contemporary art center between Atlanta and Washington DC. The Center’s programs include Artists-in-Residence (AIR), exhibitions, education, and The Innovation Institute. The Center is dedicated to an evolving process that results in the development of new ideas and the enhancement of contemporary visual art. Programming efforts are mutually beneficial to artists, the community, and learners of all ages. The Center is an interdisciplinary laboratory where artists and other creative thinkers work and do research in a public realm. The Artist-in-Residence program is the centerpiece of the organization. The Center’s mission is to advance artists, community and the creation of contemporary art through residencies, exhibitions, outreach and education.
Since its grand opening, the Center has hosted over 80 exhibitions which have showcased hundreds of artists from all over the world. The Center is committed to a strong and vibrant exhibition program that showcases powerful, high quality exhibitions using contemporary art as the means of introduction to the artistic process.
