///VOLUNTEER

McColl Center for Visual Art is always seeking volunteers to help out with special events, artist outreaches, educational programs, and day-to-day office tasks.  There are many different types of opportunities available, and people of all ages (16+) and backgrounds are encouraged to get involved!

Docent Program - NEW!

Can’t say enough great things about McColl Center for Visual Art?  Come and share your knowledge and enthusiasm with our visitors!  Docents are more than just tour guides – they have the opportunity to create a transformative experience by actively engaging visitors of all ages with our artists and exhibits.  We are currently recruiting an inaugural class of docents and are seeking people with:

• A background in art, art history, or a similar field
• An ability to speak articulately to groups of various ages and backgrounds and to successfully engage visitors in dialogue
• A friendly, welcoming demeanor
• An enthusiasm for the mission and guiding principles of the Center

The Center seeks both weekday and weekend docents.  Time commitments may vary, but ideal candidates will be able to commit to at least two tours per month.  In addition, docents must be willing to commit to an initial series of training sessions as well as ongoing training updates for each new season of artists/exhibits.

Internships

The Center is currently seeking an External Affairs intern for Fall/Winter 2010.  This individual will work on a variety of projects/assignments with staff in Development, Visitor and Volunteer Relations, and Communications/Marketing.  Ideal candidates will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, experience working with data (database experience is a plus), a working knowledge of social media applications and website management, and strong writing skills.  Applicants should be able to commit to at least 12 - 15 hours per week.

All internships are unpaid but can be arranged for college credit.  Students and recent graduates in art-related fields are ideal candidates as the Center is a dynamic artist community providing an excellent opportunity for students to interact with artists and obtain firsthand experience in arts administration.

Depending on staff needs, internships in other areas including Residencies & Exhibitions, Grants, Education, and Graphic Design may be available.  Please check back later for updates!
